Progressives Are More Than Drunk with Power

As the smoke clears from the most recent (but not last) riots and looting by Black Lives Matter and their Antifa comrades it behooves conservatives to consider what the progressive project entails: The complete and total destruction of the current social and economic system of the west.

It’s a mad dash towards the Marxian ideal of perfecting mankind. As one noted Bolshevik exclaimed—speaking of the unspeakable atrocities in the Gulag, “Has anything more wonderful happened in human history? We are tearing the old skin off mankind and giving it a new one.”

This “tearing off the skin of mankind” is exactly what we are witnessing as a result of the COVID-19 Lockdowns and Black Lives Matter race riots and looting—it’s a project long underway.

The consequences of attempting to create better human beings through social conditioning and control is (I would argue) the ghastliest example of what can happen when people break the cardinal rule of Alcoholics Anonymous, which is to worry only about what you can control. That is yourself.

Progressives should learn from recovering alcoholics: the rage and annihilation they exhibit towards others is driven by a maniacal need to control the world and events around them. The desire to control destroys the person infected by this disability and tears down the structure of the family, friends, work, and life of the alcoholic.

Any attempt to control what you cannot control is sure-fire death for the alcoholic. In the case of progressivism, it’s sure-fire death of the Western system.

The only path to recovery is recognizing that one cannot control the people and events around them. One can only control one’s self (a hard-enough challenge.)

Progressives demonstrate the behavior of a raging, out-of-control alcoholic. The question remains: Is an intervention possible? What would a 12-step recovery program entail? Or, are progressives too far gone to help?

The future of western civilization depends on the right answer.
