What’s the difference between Democrats and epidemiologists? One is a group of shameless partisans who spin and lie to advance their liberal agenda, and the other just nominated Joe Biden.
Ever wonder what would happen if — as an experiment — Democratic politicians, mainstream media, and scientists worked together to push something so extreme they’d destroy an economy, lock down millions of Americans, and just for kicks, suspend the first amendment? Would the trusting and well-meaning citizens of our nation be fooled, or fight back?
Now we know.
It was January, 2020. Congressional Democrats had just failed to convict President Donald Trump in an impeachment about something completely different than the Russian treason thing which they insisted for years of which he was guilty. Unemployment was at 3.6%, and Trump’s approval rating was 53.3%, the highest in months.
Then it happened. The COVID-19 coronavirus from Wuhan, China infected American politics.
It was a deadly killer virus, one that the expert doctors and scientists and WHO said had a death rate of 3.4%. This was meant to ridicule and end any skeptical comparison of the novel virus to seasonal flu death rate of 1%. Amplified by a willing media, it also instilled a sense of fear and panic in Americans. Trump said he had a hunch the true death rate was less than 1% due to lack of testing. For this, the MSM pounced, calling it “spurious” info, “misinforming” and “ignorant,” because Trump.
After 10,000 cases of the virus in China, and 250 deaths (all in China) and the first 150 cases outside of China, concern turned to action. Trump initiated large-scale social distancing, and announced a ban on all travel to and from China on 1/31/2020, distancing the epicenter of a Chinese pandemic from Americans. Democrats predictably criticized the move as “un-American” and “xenophobic fearmongering,” because of course they did.
Even as the first case was reported in New York City in someone returning from China, Democrats were exhorting people to gather publicly in NYC’s Chinatown.
That was January. In the weeks to come, to spite science and Trump, many Democrats encouraged gathering, particularly in Chinese parts of town. Trump’s attempt to create distance between America and the virus was ignored by liberals. Democrats intentionally embraced Chinese neighborhoods, celebrating the Lunar New Year, and without masks.
Let’s take a look at what happened next to remember where we were, and how we got here.
